Construction of the Sheikh Zayed Grand mosque Started in 1996 and took about 12 years to complete. The mosque was officially opened in December 2007. more than 3,000 workers and 38 contracting companies from around the world helped to build Sheikh Zayed Grand mosque. The cost of construction was around 2000 million Dirhams.The design of the Sheikh Zayed Grand mosque combination of different architectural styles from various Muslim countries, such as Turkey, Morocco, Pakistan, and Egypt.The materials used to build the Sheikh Zayed Grand mosque were sourced from many different countries. The white marble came from Greece and Macedonia, while other materials like gold, semi-precious stones, crystals, and ceramics were imported from countries like India, Italy, Germany, and China.

The mosque has 82 roofs of different sizes. The largest dome is located in the center of the main prayer hall and is 279 feet high and 107 feet in diameter. The roofs are decorated with white marble and intricate designs.

There are 1,096 columns in the Sheikh Zayed Grand mosque, each decorated with semi-precious stones like amethyst, lapis lazuli, and mother of pearl. These columns support the arches and roofs, adding to the Sheikh Zayed Grand mosque's grandeur.

The carpet was made in Iran and took two years to complete. It measures 60,570 square feet and weighs 35 tons. Over 1,200 craftsmen worked on the carpet, which is made from wool and cotton.
