The Green Planet

The Green Planet in Dubai is a unique and new concept of an indoor rainforest housed within a square box structure. It represents a new approach to eco-friendly tourism and education with entertainment, promoting conservation awareness. Located in the City Walk of Dubai, The Green Planet was officially opened in 2016 as a popular attraction. It was designed to recreate the tropical rainforest ecosystem, featuring a vast amount of plants and trees, with temperature and humidity levels similar to a tropical rainforest. This creates awareness of the importance of plants and animals among visitors.

The center of The Green Planet has a dome-structured glass that includes numerous floors. Each floor contains numerous plants and animals, carefully recreating the environment with the sights, sounds, and atmosphere of a tropical rainforest. The dome's design works with advanced systems to control climate and maintain specific temperature and humidity levels, essential for the health and well-being of the indoor rainforest.

One of the most notable attractions of The Green Planet is its rich biodiversity. The rainforest is home to thousands of plant species. Inside the dome, there is a large tree where visitors can explore different layers of the rainforest. The layers start from the forest floor, containing ferns and mosses, to the understory, where colorful birds and small mammals live. The bio-dome also features a canopy walk, a bridge made of rope and wood, allowing guests to experience the rainforest from a top-level view. The Green Planet contains a variety of animals, including exotic birds like toucans and parrots, playful primates such as marmosets and sloths, and even reptiles like chameleons and snakes. Each species is carefully chosen to contribute to the ecosystem within The Green Planet, creating a balanced and growing community.

The Bat Cave at The Green Planet in Dubai is designed to showcase the world of fruit bats. The Bat Cave replicates a natural habitat suitable for fruit bats, providing them with space to roost and fly. You can explore the bats from various vantage points within the cave, allowing close-up views of their behavior and interactions. There are displays and informational panels showing the life cycle, diet, and ecological role of fruit bats in rainforest ecosystems. The Bat Cave provides an interactive experience where visitors can learn about conservation efforts to protect bat species worldwide.

The Green Planet in Dubai features the Piranha Feeding, a scheduled event that offers visitors the opportunity to experience a close-up view. The feeding sessions are conducted at specified times during the day, allowing visitors to observe how the piranhas behave during feeding. During the feeding, an experienced staff member provides a guide about the behavior, diet, and natural habitat of piranhas.

The Green Planet was built and is managed by Meraas, a Dubai-based real estate company, with significant support from the government. The Green Planet typically operates from Monday to Sunday, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The entry fee for children between the ages of 3 to 12 is approximately AED 120, while for people aged 13 and above, the fee is approximately AED 140.
